Sajeel Ahmed is currently the Deputy Director, Administration & Management (DA&M), Office of the Secretary of Defense As the Deputy DA&M, Mr. Ahmed assists the DA&M managing the Pentagon Reservation, including all construction, renovation, facility operations, maintenance, and security; provides administrative, personnel, and budget support to OSD, selected Defense Agencies, and DoD personnel in the National Capital Region; and assists in supervising Washington Headquarters Services and the Pentagon Force Protection Agency. Mr. Ahmed previously served as the Director, Joint Service Provider. In the position, he was responsible for the day-to-day information technology operations supporting the Office of the Secretary of Defense, the Joint Staff, Headquarters Department of the Army, and all other Department of Defense Component offices within the National Capital Region. Mr. Ahmed oversaw all daily IT operations and defenses, managing an infrastructure and portfolio valued over $1 billion.
Prior to joining DISA, Ahmed was the acting director of the Administration and Organizational Policy Office of the Chief Management Officer where he served as the senior management official, overseeing OSD/DoD Organizational Management/Policy and Senior Departmental Governance. He also served as the acting director at Washington Headquarters Services and as director of the WHS Facilities Services Directorate.
Mr. Ahmed was appointed to the Senior Executive Service in 2004.
He began his service with the Pentagon as a systems engineer in 1993. During that time, he was responsible for leading the Pentagon renovation team. Immediately following the 2001 terrorist attack on the Pentagon, Ahmed led engineering efforts, which developed into two major programs to enhance the Pentagon's survivability and continuity postures: the Command Communications Survivability Program and the Defense Continuity Integrated Network/Pentagon Continuity Information System. He then spent more than a decade as the director of the WHS Facilities Services Directorate, responsible for the operation, maintenance, and construction activities on the Pentagon Reservation.
In 1989, Ahmed graduated from the University of Illinois at Chicago earning a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering. Later, he joined the U.S. Army Information Systems Engineering Command as an engineering intern at Fort Huachuca, Arizona.
