Annual DoW Conference Reports

  • Background.
    • OMB Memo M-17-08, "Amending OMB Memorandum M-12-12, Promoting Efficient Spending to Support Agency Operations," requires Federal agencies to monitor and report conference-related activities and to post this information publicly by January 31 of each year.
    • All DoW-hosted conferences were approved by officials with delegated approval authority, per DoW Conference Guidance requirements. Individual reporters from the DoW Components reported conference information using the DoW Conference Tool.
    • The FY2025 DoW Conference Report consists of a spreadsheet reflecting each DoW Component’s conferences that had a net cost of $100,000 or more per event.
    • The primary elements of cost for conferences include: travel, audio-visual, and contracts for conference support services.
  • FY 2024 and FY 2025 Comparison.
    • During FY 2025, DoW reported a total of 120 hosted conferences, each having a net cost of $100,000 or more. The aggregate total cost of the FY 2025 120 DoW-hosted conferences was $39,662,288.38.
    • During FY 2024, DoW reported a total of 211 hosted conferences, each having a net cost of $100,000 or more. The aggregate total cost of the FY 2024 211 DoW-hosted conferences was $63,028,588.51.
    • The average cost for each DoW-hosted conference in FY 2025 was $330,519, which is an increase of $31,805, compared to the FY 2024 average ($298,714).
